Leading Conservation Activities on the Rainbow Reef
In 2024, Sau Bay Resort & Spa started the Rainbow Reef Fiji Foundation with the goal of empowering local communities to participate and lead conservation and research efforts aimed at protecting the World Famous Rainbow Reef. The Foundation's major activities, in partnership with global NGOs, inluding PADI, include:

Help establish the Rainbow Reef Marine Protected Area

Lead citizen-based marine research and monitoring

​Lead conservation efforts, including beach cleanups, mangrove plantings, and crown-of-thorn starfish population control

Education of the next generation about the importance of reef protection, sustainable tourism, debris removal and restoration activities
Many of our guests look for ways to improve both the lives of the local Fijians and are proponents of environmental stewardship. The activities of the Rainbow Reef Fiji Foundation create opportunities for donations and funding from outside sources to be directly beneficial to both the community members and the reef ecoystem at the same time.
